POSITION TITLE:         Systems Engineer     

 

F.L.S.A.                         Exempt      

    

QUALIFICATIONS:           

REPORTS TO:          Network and Infrastructure Manager    

      

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month (261 days) with benefits provided according to Classified Agreement. 

                         

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot computer malfunction relating to faulty hardware, software, server and/or network.

  2. Maintain and oversee quality of disk backups of all district servers.

  3. Implement, maintain and oversee district Storage Area Networks.

  4. Implement, maintain and oversee converged Voice, Video and Data networks.

  5. Communicate effectively with staff and students regarding maintenance of networked technologies.

  6. Implement quality control procedures to improve uptime of network and server devices.

  7. Deploy and maintain server operating systems and software in the district data center.

  8. Provide security as it relates to Windows Server, Network, and Physical Infrastructure needs.

  9. Provide network support, including installation of network hardware, software, systems documentation, and training.

  10. Install, configure, document and maintain routers and network devices in support of the district’s local area network/wide area network.

  11. Manage Microsoft AD, Email, Messaging, DHCP, DNS, WINS, and SCCM servers.

  12. Manage Cisco Call Manager, Unity and Emergency Responder Servers and applications.

  13. Manage district filtering hardware.

 

OTHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct training as necessary for staff in the proper use of technology equipment.

  2. Coordinate with Technology Department team members to design and implement automated deployment and maintenance technologies.

  3. Coordinate with the Infrastructure team to establish and maintain network cabling systems.

  4. Make recommendations for Server and Network equipment purchases.

  5. Research and implement preventative maintenance procedures for district technology devices.

  6. Attend training as required by administration.
